Telling The TANGO Story
I am writing this month’s TANGO TRENDS commentary from wine country in Sonoma California. My wife and I came here on vacation 34 years ago and when I saw this trip come up at a charity auction, I couldn’t resist. It’s a beautiful place to take a break from the action taste some great wine’s and reflect on our family’s journey since we were here last.
Realizing that at this age we can’t come here to solely partake in the wonderful wine produced in this region, we decided to weave into this trip a 3-day bike ride with Backroads. What’s nice about a Backroads trip is that you are grouped with other people from around the country for three days of fun exploration, wine tastings and group dinners. Invariably the question is asked…”so what do you do?”.
When I tell the “TANGO Story” it always resonates, regardless of where the person lives or what they do for work, they understand and appreciate what we’re doing. If fact we will have a few new members joining TANGO as a result of these recent conversations.
As you all know, TANGO was created to help nonprofits be better at business…most of our member nonprofits are great at mission delivery yet find it challenging to stay abreast with best practices, emerging business trends and highly impactful strategies that help them become more efficient in running a complex tax-exempt business.
Our focus on helping nonprofits through business oriented education, mission support and tangible business resources provided through our network of socially conscious businesses is creating positive impact in the sector. As we build scale (currently at 1,800+ nonprofit members representing 185,000+ people who have chosen work in the sector) our ability to deliver deeper and more meaningful resources to our nonprofit members is increased.
The TANGO Story is not a complex one, with every new member we get a little stronger in our ability to give back through our collective professional endeavors.
With great excitement we recently launched a new TANGO Hub in the Capital Region of NY. More proof that regardless of location the “TANGO Story” of socially conscious business coming together with nonprofits for the mutual benefit of both creates a classic win/win that clearly is resonating.
Thank you for being a part of our growing community, I’ll be back in the saddle in a couple days…in the interim it’s time for a glass of wine.
Cheers!
