Women’s Mentoring Network, Inc.
For 35 years, Women’s Mentoring Network has provided essential career services at no cost to its members. Focusing on the unemployed, underemployed, and those living paycheck-to-paycheck, Women’s Mentoring Network has designed and delivered programs and support services for women and their families who are actively seeking to improve their lives through more gainful employment.
The organization accomplishes this through an effective, holistic approach that includes mentorship, skills building, and goal and vision planning. Women’s Mentoring Network also works with students on helping them reach their goals through the First Generation Achievement Program.
Women’s Mentoring Network, Inc. provides various services including:
Adult Programs:
- Job Readiness & Financial Literacy Programs: Focus on Resume Writing, Pre-employment, On-the-Job Issues Management, Workplace Advancement, Budget Coaching
- Computer & Digital Literacy programs, including scholarships offered for Google Career Certificates and Northstar Digital Literacy
- Strategic Life Skills Workshops – group sessions with a speaker
- Women’s Empowerment Hour – group sessions with staff
- Health & Well-being Workshops
- Education & Scholarship Program
- Mentoring
First Generation Achievement Program:
- Junior Leadership Team for Middle School, High School and College Students, focuses students on goals throughout high school and college
- Teen Internships
- Early Steps Tutoring Program for Elementary School and Middle School Students
- Scholarship Program
Women’s Mentoring Network, Inc. CT Recent Accomplishments:
Women’s Mentoring Network was awarded the Inclusive Community Team of the Year Award as part of the Inclusive Leadership Impact Awards in 2024. Moffly Media’s Light a Fire Women’s Impact Award in 2020, and both the National Association of Social Workers of CT Latino/a/x Award and the SHero Award from the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity in 2021.
The organization has also received numerous accolades over the years, including national recognition as a Presidential Point of Light, endorsement as a model for replication from the United Way, and identification as “one of America’s best grassroots programs in the battle against hunger and poverty” by Reinvesting In America. Women’s Mentoring Network has also been recognized as a Partner of the Year of The WorkPlace.
