The Importance of Diverse Boards:
The topic of our presentation will focus on TANGO’s effort to react to a BoardSource report that stated the number of people of color and diverse backgrounds serving on nonprofit boards has not changed in over 20 years. This conversation will be led by TANGO’s instructors Anne Ruwet (Senior Consultant, TANGO) and Fred Jenoure (Senior Consultant, TANGO- Founder & President FEJ Consulting) who both have significant leadership experience in the nonprofit sector.
Fred and Anne have combined their years of experience with the teachings of the TANGO Nonprofit Method, a book written by former TANGO employee attorney Jack Horak. Collectively with TANGO we have developed a program to train diverse candidates to serve on nonprofit boards.
This enlightening discussion will provide a roadmap on how and why nonprofits can benefit from developing a more diverse board.
What is Women Take the Lead?
Women Take The Lead (WTTL) is a group created by TANGO to support women in the nonprofit sector by providing peer networking, education, business development, and mentorship.
Led by female leaders in both the nonprofit and for-profit sector, WTTL’s goal is to build a community of women who support one another through thought leadership to help them expand their professional networking group and advance their careers. Women Take the Lead is eager to discuss imperative topics not happening in the boardroom while providing a sanctuary for members to share their challenges.
