CWP manages a diverse portfolio of projects and services for local jobseekers and businesses including the following:
- The American Job Centers
A signature initiative, the American Job Centers offer a variety of services to jobseekers and employers FREE of charge. We connect thousands of people to employment each year with training, workshops, 1-on-1 counseling and job clubs. - The BEST Chance Partnership
BEST Chance is CWP’s primary venue for serving Returning Citizens, implemented in partnership with numerous reentry stakeholders. The Partnership framework coordinates resources across member organizations to provide comprehensive and flexible services tailored to the needs of individual Returning Citizens. - Youth & Young Adult Programs
CWP continues to lead the way in youth development through a variety of programs. Highlights include the Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program (SYELP), a youth employment program connecting Connecticut youth living in the North Central Region between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.CWP’s Opportunity Youth Program serves those between the ages of 18-24 particularly in communities of color that have seen a significant increase in unemployment and disconnection from education and training. We provide them FREE access to training and skill-building activities that will result in jobs and self-sustaining careers. - Regional Sector Partnerships
CWP helps coordinate the efforts of several Regional Sector Partnerships. RSPs bring business leaders from a single industry in our region to collaborate in making their industry more competitive. They define their own agenda and tackle a range of issues including improving the workforce pipeline, improving infrastructure, or facilitating business-to-business networking. - Career ConneCT
A statewide initiative, Career ConneCT offers skilling, reskilling, and upskilling in growing industries. Depending upon particular needs and interests, individuals can participate in certificate training programs and earn industry-recognized credentials in as little as 5 to 12 weeks and get connected to employers ready to hire right away. CWP is participating by offering free training programs in Information Technology and Transportation.The impact of CWP’s efforts on the state is significant in supporting a robust local and regional healthy economy.
Recent Accomplishments:
- The 2024 Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) Summer Youth Employment & Learning Program (SYELP) is wrapping up and it has been a huge success
- SYELP is a youth employment program, connecting Connecticut youth living in the North Central Region between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences each summer. This year, we had over 1,400 participants.
- Thousands of young people across the North Central Connecticut Region have been working hard at a variety of locations. They have had the chance to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences that will help develop their social, civic and leadership skills.By participating in structured project and work-based opportunities, these young people will be better prepared for careers of the future.
