The Movie. . . The Movement!

As many of you know we acquired the rights to show the Oscar nominated movie UnCharitable. It’s based on Dan Pollatta’s book and produced by acclaimed Hollywood Director Stephen Gyllenhaal.

Last Thursday evening was a cold and rainy, nasty night here in Hartford yet we filled the theatre at Trinity College with TANGO Members, all braving the weather to see the film UnCharitable.

As planned, it did not disappoint. In fact, it inspired lots of discussion and follow up momentum to further promote the message that the world needs to think differently about nonprofits and the concept of charity. The old way of doing business is simply broken.

Stephen Gyllenhaal joined us virtually after the showing to help TANGO ignite a discussion around changing the landscape that stifles nonprofits perceptions about overhead as a benchmark for legitimacy and impact. We have heard from many top nonprofit leaders that the films message needs to be taken to our legislature, our funders and other influencers in the sector. So that’s what TANGO is committed to doing.  Stay tuned, we promise to keep you posted on additional developments.
