“If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere, it’s up to you New York, New York…”
– Frank Sinatra
This month we had the good fortune to formally launch TANGO into New York City. With the local support of Erik Coleman, VP at NFP and MJ Pedone, President of Indra Public Relations, we hosted a dinner with some prominent NYC nonprofit executives and socially conscious business leaders to strategize on how to bring TANGO to The Big Apple. We all left this dinner meeting excited for the task ahead and the opportunity to build more connections and resources for NYC’s nonprofit sector.
Thank you to all that came to our dinner, your insight and involvement is invaluable…stay tuned, there is a lot more to come.
Why is it important for TANGO to continue to grow? Simply put scale matters, the bigger we get the more we can do to support the sector. We now have 1700 nonprofit members representing approximately 180,000 workers. A quick Google search indicates there are over 35,000 nonprofits in NYC alone, paying $33.6 billion in payroll taxes and employing over 600,000 workers. We can help many of these organizations while adding to TANGO’s membership and ultimate impact in the sector.
While we have members from almost every state in the nation, we realize that a localized “hub” concept is also important to expanding TANGO’s footprint. This approach enables TANGO to not only deliver virtual education and related business resources but also host in person localized events. This gives nonprofit leaders the opportunity to network with our social conscious business partners, all working to help drive innovation, collaboration and support throughout the sector.
With the pandemic in our rear view mirror we are hearing from our members that they like getting together. We recently had a full house at a workshop hosted by our Partner Cohn Reznick and our Woman Take the Lead networking group has fantastic in person participation. So going forward, each region will have a combination of in person and virtual events to keep you informed.
Thank you for being a part of our rapidly growing community.
Thanks!
