Join TANGO and their Partners Thomaston Savings Bank and Financial One, Accounting, LLC for an educational workshop covering: Fraud Protection – Best Practices for Keeping Your IT Systems and Internal Processes Protected Against Fraud.
The first part of this workshop will include tips and information about how non-profits can keep their IT systems protected and what internal controls are recommended to protect organizations against fraud from both within their organization and outside of their organization. In this workshop you will gain insight on best practices for protecting important data – both your employees’ as well as your clients’ information – along with current cyber security issues affecting non-profit organizations. Information for best practices for internal controls regarding the handling of cash management will be presented which will include tips on account reconciliation, wires, ACH, remote deposit capture, and how to set up your online banking to avoid fraud.
The second part of this workshop will provide information about fraud and certain fraud risk factors. We will discuss how non-profits can avoid common mistakes within their organization and protect themselves against malicious acts that occur inside as well as outside the organization. Our workshop will provide you with insight on best practices for detecting fraud and the most common fraud acts that are committed. We will also discuss the importance of having proper policies (Whistleblower) in place as well as reviewing the proper oversight that is recommended within an organization.
