What is TANGO?
“What is TANGO?”
Tango is a passionate partner dance that originated in the late 19th century in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay. It is defined by connection, rhythm, and a dynamic interplay between partners—each responding to the other to create something meaningful and expressive.
I share this for two reasons.
First, it reflects exactly why we named our organization TANGO. The “dance” we’ve created between our nonprofit members and our socially conscious business partners mirrors this same idea. When these two groups come together—aligned in purpose and connected through shared values—the result is powerful. Our mission is to foster these meaningful partnerships where everyone benefits, and together, we create something greater than the sum of our parts.
Second—and on a more personal note—guess where I’m headed as I write this? Buenos Aires… the birthplace of TANGO!
From the early days of building this organization, I always thought it would be special to experience where this iconic dance began. And while I won’t be taking to the dance floor (spare yourselves that visual!), the trip holds even more meaning.
I have the good fortune of having a daughter who has made a name for herself in the world of fly fishing. We share this passion, and she invited me to join her on an adventure in Patagonia—an opportunity no proud father could pass up. https://www.instagram.com/abbie.on.the.fly?igsh=MW1ocnZ4OXNqejhqbw==
So, next stop: Buenos Aires, the birthplace of TANGO… followed by Patagonia and, hopefully, a few unforgettable trout.
Thank you for being part of this growing community. Your commitment, collaboration, and shared purpose are what bring this “dance” to life. I look forward to continuing to build this movement together in the months ahead.
