For 2025, the taxable wage base in CT is increasing from $25,000 to $26,100. That is the portion of payroll that your State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) rate is applied to.
So, what that means is that your SUTA is going to end up costing you more money. The tax rate in CT for 2025 is .1% to 8.9% which is also up from last year.

Upcoming Federal Funding Cuts proposed by the current administration could increase the risk of UI claims occurring. Additionally, new federal legislation that is scheduled to go into effect, will be increasing the weekly unemployment benefit in CT from $721 to $1,068….that is a 48% increase!  So, if your organization is self-insured / reimbursing, you could have a potential legal issue!
