Spring is in the Air!

We’ve had a couple days where the temperatures nearly reached 70 degrees! There is hope.

As spring approaches the long dark cloud of the pandemic is lifting, a feeling of optimism abounds. Vaccines are quickly finding there way into arms, more people seem to be out and about, I even hopped on a plane a couple weeks ago. As good as all this feels we realize that many families have experienced terrible losses and our hearts go out to them.

Here at TANGO we are feeling our own sense of renewed energy. There is a lot going on!

Tulips in the Spring timeAs I discussed in last month’s Tango Trends, TANGO’s founding company The Schuster Group was acquired by NFP a large well respected national insurance broker. We have begun the process of integrating TANGO into their national footprint of over 200 offices throughout the US. As we often say, the bigger we get the more we can do to help the nonprofit sector. With the commitment of NFP’s backing we hope to significantly increase our membership from 1400 nonprofits to….who knows, the sky is the limit. Stay tuned, TANGO is picking up steam!

In the near term, I am excited to welcome The Connection to our roster of Partner firms. What makes this partner different is The Connection is a nonprofit who has had the foresight to create a business to support its mission. Historically our partners have been socially conscious for-profit businesses. We are starting to see progressive nonprofits realize that dependence solely on state/federal funding and donations is a dangerous proposition. Building a business within the confines of a nonprofit will be the model of the future and aligns well with TANGO’s DNA of helping nonprofits be better at business. Congratulations to The Connection, we look forward to helping you expand your business throughout our membership. To review their expertise in a wide range of quality professional development trainings offered to TANGO Members, please click here.

Also, please join us for two new initiatives. First, our own Ryan Lawless will be hosting a monthly virtual meeting called Coffee with TANGO. These short drop in meetings are designed to keep our members up to date with all that is happening within TANGO and how we can help you move your mission forward.  Secondly, I’ll be hosting a live video podcast called Behind the Success where I’ll be interviewing some of the most interesting and influential people in the nonprofit sector. These candid conversations will unlock the secrets of their success, there’s no better teacher than those who have done it!  Keep on the lookout for more information about both programs in the next couple of weeks.

Lastly, I want to thank all of you that make up the TANGO community, collectively we’re a combined force of socially conscious business and nonprofits all working together to bring innovative programs, products and strategies that help nonprofits thrive.

Happy Spring!

More From TANGO

December 2025 – Founders Forum by Rollin Schuster

As we close out the year, I am proud to reflect on what has been a truly strong and meaningful year for TANGO. Together, we achieved important milestones that underscore both the relevance of our work and the strength of our growing community. In 2025, TANGO expanded its membership to more than 2,000 nonprofit organizations and extended our geographic footprint, connecting leaders across new regions who share a commitment to building stronger, more sustainable nonprofits.

Social Enterprise In Action

Oak Hill is Connecticut’s largest private nonprofit provider of disability services. For over 130 years, Oak Hill has advanced a mission of equity, independence, and full community inclusion for people of all ages and abilities.

Measuring What Matters: Why Nonprofits Are Rethinking Data

Ask any nonprofit leader what keeps them up at night, and you’ll likely hear a version of the same story: “We’re doing so much but how do we show what’s actually changing?” For years, the sector has relied on numbers that demonstrate activity like how many services delivered, how many people reached, or how many hours logged.
