Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV)

CCADV is the voice against domestic violence across Connecticut. We lead a statewide network focused on advocacy, outreach and education. Our work transforms political, economic and social responses to end domestic violence in Connecticut. We are a membership organization of the state’s 18 domestic violence service organizations and we operate Connecticut’s 24/7 domestic violence hotline and resource hub, Safe Connect.

Services We Provide

  • Systems advocacy that strengthens Connecticut’s response to domestic violence in the areas of children, housing, law enforcement, healthcare, civil/family and criminal court, and diversity & accessibility.
  • Prevention and community education, including our teen dating violence prevention focus area of student athletes through our TeamUp CT initiative.
  • Training and technical assistance with our 18 member organizations and community partners.
  • Legislative policy advocacy at the state and federal level.
  • Statewide public awareness efforts.
  • Safe Connect – Connecticut’s 24/7 domestic violence resource hub.

Accomplishments in the Nonprofit Community:

  • In 2022 we secured the first-ever state funding provided in Connecticut to support domestic violence child & family advocates to specifically address the needs of children who experience domestic violence in their homes.
  • Our HUD DV Bonus Funds application was ranked #1 among all applications received nationwide by HUD.
  • We have continued to expand our Pro Bono Restraining Order Project since its relaunch in January 2021. This project provides free legal representation to survivors during a restraining order hearing, a critical safety intervention point for them. In the first 16 months after relaunch, over 70 attorneys provided pro bono representation to 125 victims, collectively donating over 1,000 hours, translating into over $360,000 in saved legal fees.

CCADV leads Connecticut’s Lethality Assessment Program, a risk assessment tool used by law enforcement at the scene of an intimate partner violence incident. 2022 marks 10 years of this initiative with over 76,000 screens conducted to assess and increase victim safety. Connecticut remains the only state in the country with full, statewide participation by all state, municipal and university police departments.

How has TANGO Impacted your Organization:

Our relationship with TANGO is only beginning! TANGO has been an incredible resource for CCADV as we seek to support and empower our staff in innovative ways. Recently, we were able to show our appreciation for our Director of Child Advocacy, Kelly Annelli, by nominating her for the Rising Star Award, which not only allowed us to give her the recognition she deserves but is helping her complete her doctorate through a financial scholarship. The leadership and staff at TANGO have been incredibly welcoming to our organization and we are excited for all the other ways we can partner and participate in their programs in the future! Together, we will become better, stronger organizations.
