MARC Community Resources
For families and caregivers in the Hartford & Middlesex Counties and the Shoreline who struggle with the demands of caring for their loved ones with I/DD, MARC Community Resources offers residential, employment, day, leisure, skill development, and advocacy services. It is our mission to help them live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
For over 65 years, individuals with I/DD, their families, and caregivers have trusted us to support them through their journey in life. Strategic investments in staff, infrastructure, and technology allow us to respond to the developing needs of our stakeholders and community. By continuously seeking and implementing innovative approaches, we’re able to provide the latest opportunities for people with I/DD.
From graduation to retirement, MARC offers more than just a service; we are here to help them find their voice and attain independence. We are here to listen to, advocate for, and empower them to succeed and achieve their dreams.

Accomplishments in the Nonprofit Community:
MARC’s latest milestone was acquiring a 38,000 square foot building in Middletown, increasing accessibility of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in our community. Since the acquisition, we have enhanced our programs with more robust curriculums, increased access to enrichment and physical activities, including Virtual Reality, the construction of a half-basketball court, raised garden beds, picnic patio, and more. We’ve also created a fully customizable program which offers services to those with broader and more complex needs.
We’ve embarked on a Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion initiative for our organization to ensure that everyone at MARC feels valued and respected. We envision MARC as the community’s expert for how to include people with I/DD as valuable members.
Lastly, we’ve officially become a partner with Project SEARCH, a program offering a series of internships with local businesses, where total immersion in the workplace facilitates the teaching and learning process through hands-on training. The goal is for individuals to be prepared for competitive, independent, and integrated employment. It also provided host businesses the opportunity to develop a workforce that has full representation of marginalized and disenfranchised groups.
