The Next Chapter. . .

As many of you know, my firm The Schuster Group is the founder and primary funder of TANGO. I opened our doors 29 years ago and quickly developed a specialty in working with nonprofits, helping them manage their employee benefits, insurance, and retirement plans. 13 years ago I created TANGO to further our commitment to supporting nonprofits. I am extremely proud to say that with the help of our dedicated staff and loyal clients we have grown into one of the regions largest independent brokers.

During that time TANGO has expanded its reach to now having over 1400 nonprofit members representing approximately 160,000 people who have chosen to work in the sector. Our overarching philosophy of “doing well by doing good” has clearly worked for everyone involved and I thank you. With all the challenges the pandemic has brought, 2020 ended up being the best year in the history of our firm. It is with that momentum that I decided to take The Schuster Group and TANGO to new heights by merging into the NFP group of companies.

NFP is a leading insurance broker and consultant with extensive global resources that provides corporate benefits, property casualty, retirement, and individual solutions. The Schuster Group will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of NFP.

We had numerous offers from all the top-tier firms in the market, a big part of my decision to become an NFP company is their corporate commitment to supporting our communities and their desire to help us expand TANGO’s impact within the nonprofit sector. With the backing of NFP’s $1.6 billion of revenue, 300 offices throughout the US, Canada, and Europe, and our shared philosophy of supporting the sector the sky is the limit!  So, this next chapter is obviously an exciting time for us, our clients, and members. As always, TANGO’s mission remains to “help nonprofits thrive” and we believe that this acquisition will give us the opportunity to take TANGO to the next level.

Time to get back to work…there’s lots to do! Plus I have a boss for the first time in 29 years!
