Austin has a strong sense of community and a vibrant culture that is now host to over 16,000 nonprofit organizations. As the temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat-related illness—especially for employees working outdoors. Whether you’re supporting clients during community outings, working in a group home garden, or supervising recreational activities, staying hydrated is essential for your safety and performance.
Even mild dehydration can cause fatigue, dizziness, confusion, and muscle cramps. In extreme heat, it can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke – which is a serious medical emergency.
